Today, MMSTS, LLC brings together the Ole Miss Beta alumni community, parents and associates, alongside a student-focused leadership and fellowship mission. We keep the friendships that began in Oxford part of our lives while making room for new connections.
Our name preserves a connection to a society whose history at Ole Miss began before Beta Beta Chapter itself.

Our mission today
A shared history. A wider circle.
Leadership, fellowship, career support and personal well-being guide the next chapter of MMSTS.
Across generations
The MMSTS community
Alumni, parents and associates bring experience, encouragement and opportunities to one another. Our plans include optional mentoring in both directions and career connections for students and adults alike.
Associate membership welcomes parents, Daughters of the Diamond alumnae, sisters of current members, Temple of the Star Little Sisters, supporters and training participants.
A student-led club centered on growth, belonging, service and preparation for life after college. Its leadership training is taught by Dr. Jody Holland through the Sullivan program.
Campus club membership is for enrolled UM students. Alumni and associates support the club through independent MMSTS membership; collegiate eligibility and fees are separate.
One place to stay connected. Beta Connections brings our constituents together for communication, updates and opportunities as our community and resources grow.

The origins of our name
Before Beta Beta, the Temple of the Star.
The story begins at Wesleyan University in Connecticut, where the Mystical Seven was founded in 1837. As the society spread to other campuses, its local groups were known as temples.
The Temple of the Star was established at the University of Mississippi in 1859. The historical marker records its connection to Beta Theta Pi in 1879, the year Beta Beta Chapter was established.
The historical marker outside the chapter house records that connection. The letters MMSTS keep this earlier part of our story visible to each new generation.
Augustus Baldwin LongstreetUM’s second president, 1849–1856
Before coming to Oxford, Augustus Baldwin Longstreet joined the Mystical Seven while serving as president of Emory College. His later move to Ole Miss connects the society’s southern history with the university’s earliest years.
Longstreet led the University of Mississippi from 1849 to 1856. His title at the time was president; the university adopted the title chancellor under his successor.
The connection also ran through his family. L.Q.C. Lamar was Longstreet’s son-in-law, and historian Jim Woodrick identifies Lamar among the Mystics in Oxford.

Through the years
A place in our memories.
Different generations remember different houses. Each photograph holds a familiar part of chapter life: the people, the gathering places, and the feeling of returning to Oxford.

Building on that history
A home for the next generation.
The expansion ribbon cutting on June 20, 2026, marked another chapter in that story. The celebration honored the brothers who built and preserved the house, and those carrying it forward.
The Beta Beta House Corporation, chartered in 1960, is a separate organization from MMSTS, LLC. The chapter, House Corporation, and alumni association each have their own role in the life of Ole Miss Beta.
Today’s MMSTS community carries the historic name forward through lifelong fellowship and a growing mission of leadership, career support and personal well-being.
Photographs, house-era captions, and the expansion rendering come from the Beta Beta House expansion ribbon-cutting poster and chapter archives.
